Disneyland & San Diego!!!!

For Memorial Day weekend, Casey and I flew to beautiful San Diego to stay at the Hill Hilton. We kicked the weekend off with a trip to California Adventure and Disneyland. My mom and Sheri Woodley came too and we had a blast! The only problem we ran into was that Casey did not realize that Disneyland is an all day adventure. He thought we would be leaving at 5pm and by that point, he had had enough of waiting in lines. I think it was the 20 minute line for ice cream that sent him over the edge. He was a trooper though and stayed until the fireworks.

The rest of the weekend we hung out in San Diego. We were treated to a really nice dinner on the beach at The Chart House. Casey is not really into seafood but he was brave and tried crab cakes, fried calamari, and halibut. He fell in love with the crab cakes so he migt be a seafood lover after all. Sunday morning, Casey and I went up to Julian which is a small town in the mountains about an hour from where I live. They have the best pies there! So we shopped around and ate our way through Main St. For those that I work with, you will appreciate that we found a place called the "Chuck Wagon Deli." Needless to say we did not eat there. Sunday night we had a big BBQ with the Kuptz and Woodley’s. It was nice to have all of the extended family together. It was a great weekend and we can’t wait to go back!

We have a graduate!!

Casey is a college graduate as of Saturday, May 16, 2009!!! He now has a degree in Kinesiology and a minor in History. His graduation ceremony was at the University of North Texas and the whole family was there. I was so proud of him when he walked across the stage and then when they told them to move their tassels and told them they were now alumni. After the ceremony, we went to eat at La Hacienda for the best fajitas in the world followed up by a graduation party that featured a fully decked out dessert buffet. It was a long day filled with BIG achievements.

Casey, you have worked so hard toward graduating and I am so incredibly proud of you!!!

Rockstars

Rockstars and music have surrounded my life this week. First by being on American Idol this week. All of the idols sang rock songs and some did and AMAZING job. Adam and Allison did a fantastic job (this is their genre after all). I really enjoyed Chris’s Beatles song. And then…there was Danny. Danny, Danny, Danny. Oh how I wish you had chosen another song. His last note literally sounded like someone screaming in pain. I couldn’t look at the TV because I was too embarrassed for him. He got the sympathy vote though and will remain for another week.

The second rockstar in my life would be my downstairs neighbor. I have had issues with her loud bass in the past and have politely knocked and asked her to turn down the bass on her stereo. She did and things have gotten a lot better…until Wednesday night at 3AM. I woke up to a loud bass that literally vibrated my bed. For those of you who know me, I’m not the funnest person to be around when I am tired or my sleep gets disrupted. I would first like to know what on earth this girl does for a living that gives her time at this hour of night/morning to blast music. Did I mention it was the same song on repeat? Same beats, over and over and over. By 3:30 I could not take it anymore. I through on my robe and went to confront her. I stomped down my stairs as loud and hard as I could so she would know I was coming. Then I knocked on the door where her dog (who I think is mute) just stared at me through the window. I knocked 4 times and she never answered (coward). However, she did stop the music by the time I entered my apartment again. Hopefully the only rockstars in my life from now on with be the American Idols.

I win!!

This is going to be a random blog. First of all, I would like to tell you all about last nights counting of the ex-girlfriend notes competition. Casey started a bet saying “under or over 33?” Please! I was going to win this one easily. I took over. Once we opened the box he changed it to “under or over 50.” I still had this in the bag. I ended up winning with a total of 89 notes! I couldn’t believe there were that many. I questioned if I should begin writing Casey notes on a daily basis but then I remembered that way back when Casey was in high school, they didn’t have email or texting (the more tech savvy way to write a note). Casey ended up throwing them all away.

Another treat for everyone...while going through some of the photo boxes, I came across this picture of Casey his senior year in his baseball photo. Isn’t my boyfriend such a hottie-pa-tottie!

Ghosts of Girlfriends Past

Our weekend was filled with adventures and one of those adventures was helping Kelly and David move some stuff out of a storage unit. There were a lot of old photos of Casey and his sisters which was fun to go through. Kelly found one box that she said was his “high school box.” He put it in his truck and as we were driving over to the new storage unit, I decided I wanted to look though it because he said there were pictures in it. I knew I would probably find a picture of his ex-girlfriend in there and I wasn’t sure I really wanted to see it but I decided to look anyway. Funny thing happened when I opened the box though, there were about 2 pictures and the rest of it was filled with notes from his ex. Hundreds of notes (Casey doesn’t believe me so we will be counting them later to prove my point). The temptation was too hard to resist. I had to read one, just one. The bodies of the notes were pretty pointless…”I’m going tanning after school…Can you believe what Jessica did?...Blah, Blah…” What I didn’t like were the pet names: “Babe, Sexy thing, Bubble Butt…” but I couldn’t stop reading them. I finally had had enough and told Casey we needed to get rid of them. I think he was getting a kick out of me getting jealous of 9 year old notes but I don’t care, what girl wants to see her boyfriends past? Apparently…not me!

1 Year...and counting

This weekend Casey and I celebrated our 1 year anniversary. I know…I can’t believe it’s already been a year either! He started off by bringing me a dozen red roses (one for every month we’ve been together he told me). Then we went to dinner at Cheesecake Factory where we both believe that our waiter was on speed. He was so hyper and kept saying “sweet” (i.e. I ask, “Can I have a box for this?” And he says, “You want a box? Sweet! I’ll pack it up for you!”) We weren’t that impressed with the food either. Luckily our big anniversary celebration is going to be at Disneyland when we go to San Diego in a few weeks. It was nice just spending time together though and reflecting on our first date and how we met.

Banana Soup?

Casey hasn’t been feeling well so to help him get through the work day I told him that he could watch the Mavs playoff game and I would make him a special dessert. When I got home, I started to whip up a home made banana pudding from scratch. Now the recipe that I have (just from the internet) does not work. I don’t know who wrote it, but they are clearly not experienced chefs (not to say that I am one either). When I made it for Easter, I stirred it for literally like 30 minutes and had to add a lot more corn starch than called for in order to get it to thicken up. Well, yesterday, I just did not feel like stirring constantly forever. I added additional cornstarch but it still wasn’t quite super thick. I figured it would just thicken up as it was in the refrigerator. Unfortunately, when Casey came over, it was more like banana soup then pudding. We laughed, but of course still ate it, and I told him he was very lucky because how many guys does he know who have girlfriends who can make banana soup?!
