It's all about the outfit

The highlight of my weekend was my shopping trip. Now, if you all know me, you would assume I went to the mall or some fun store for this shopping trip. You would be wrong. I actually went shopping at Bass Pro Shop. After I caught some decent sized fish last week, Casey decided he would let me join him in the next fishing tournament. Naturally, my first question was “well what am I going to wear?” I have no official fishing gear to wear. One thing I have learned from my mother is that half the fun of trying a new sport is the new outfit that comes along with it. I now have cute fishing pants/shorts (you can zip off the pant legs to turn them into shorts which is something I was totally against fashion wise but now I totally see the practicality). Casey bought me a cute visor for those sunny days and the final piece was a new pair of boat shoes. If I don’t catch anything at the next tournament, at least I know I will be looking good!

I'm a Mac

Bye-bye PC’s, I am an Apple girl now! Yesterday was a momentous occasion in my life. I made my largest purchase to date…I bought a brand new computer. It’s a shiny new Macbook. As some of you may know, my 6 year old computer was struggling in it’s old age and finally became too much to bear. I haven’t had too much time to play with it yet but I think as soon as I get my photos uploaded, Casey might not see me for a few days. I’m going to be too busy making slide shows and movies! However, Casey is also in love with my new toy. He discovered that on Garage Band, they have video guitar lessons and even a tuner! This day at work better fly by because I can’t wait to see what else it can do!

Fishing at the Lake

Saturday, Casey and I headed out to Lake Ray Hubbard to do a little fishing with Kelly and David. It turned out to be quite the exciting afternoon. We caught anything and everything…literally. The first time I put my line in the water I caught a big sand bass. Kelly and I were the big fishers that day so I think I might make Casey take me out on his next fishing tournament…he might need me and my great fishing skills, haha! From that point on though, hooks were flying everywhere. This is where the catching “anything and everything” comes into effect. I was trying to get Kelly and my lines untangled and while doing so the hook ripped into my pinky finger, David was throwing a big cast and ended up hooking the canopy of the boat, and finally Kelly got hooked in the butt…well technically her jeans but we all still got a good chuckle out of the situation.

A whole candle box!

Yesterday I turned the big 2-4 and it was a great day! When I got to work my cubicle was decorated beautifully with streamers all over it. As a treat we also got to leave the office for lunch and went to Uncle Julio's for Mexican food. In the afternoon a surprise from LeAnn was delivered to the office. When I picked it up, it came in a pink cake box but when I opened it, it was a beautiful floral arrangement that looked like a cake. Several of my friends asked if it was edible (I have to admit the thought crossed my mind when I first saw it too). It was not edible, but it sure smelled good!(see photo below) When I got back to my apartment, I smelled cake (which Casey pointed out that he remembered to make). I will never live his last birthday down. Not only did he make me a funfetti cake, but he made it a double layer cake and even had 24 candles in it. Before we dug into the cake, Casey took me to dinner at Cafe Italia. This time I made the right dinner decision and got the lasagna which did not let me down at all. After dinner, it was time for my cake! Casey informed me that I am a whole box of candles old. After this year, I will need to buy 2 boxes of candles for my cake. From now on, if someone asks how old I am, I think I'll just say "oh, just a candle box."

Feeding giraffes...by hand!

Yes, that's right, I have fed a giraffe by hand. It was so cool! Last Friday Casey and I both took the day off work to go on some adventures around the great state of Texas. Our first stop was at Fossil Rim Wildlife Center. It's one of those places where you can drive through and feed the animals as they come up to your car. The ostriches freaked me out...seriously, I just really don't like any creature in the bird family. The deers and antelope were really cool and were definitiely not afraid of the car. The highlight was the giraffes by far. You would never realize how huge they really are until you are basically under them. I mean, I looked out my window and all I could see were legs. The giraffe was ALL about the food too. He would have stuck his neck into my car to get the food had I not held it out for him. The only downfall was the entense amounts of slobber that coated my hand. Luckily, I came prepared with wipes and Purel in the car. You can see pictures below of all of the cool animals we got to see. Thanks to Julie and her mom for hooking me up with the tickets!

To continue our Texas Tour, we went to Waco. Here we toured the Dr. Pepper Museum, watched the Mesquite High School Skeeters win the state semi-finals basketball game, and got a delicious bite to eat at a local place called George's. If you make it to Waco, I would strongly suggest stopping by.
