Updates & Thoughts on Life...

1) I have finally given in and bought a gym membership at 24 Hour fitness. I’m hoping that paying for the gym will guilt me in to working out more. The classes are the main reason I joined. They are a lot of fun that you practically forget you are working out…although the incredible soreness and inability to sit down without pain is a great reminder.
2) I’m in LOVE!....with the Nintendo Wii. For those of you who have experienced the joy of the Wii, you know what I’m talking about. Casey and I played Wii Friday and Saturday night and had a blast! My forearms are killing me from Wii running, rowing, and table tennis tournaments. I think I might have found something for the Christmas list (hint, hint)
3) Classes have been on my mind lately. If there is such thing as the “1 year itch” after college, I am getting it for sure. I think I want to start taking some meeting planning classes. I’ve looked into it and I think it would be a lot of fun. I’m meeting with a counselor next Saturday so I’ll make an official decision then.
4) My top picks for SYTYCD (So you think you can dance) are Chelsea and Twitch. I very upset with last weeks results that sent Will (who is an amazing dancer) home. I’m afraid I might need tissue every week through the finale since I really like all of the final dancers.
5) Something I have been pondering and have brought up with the girls at work…What is the difference between frosting and icing? Personally, I feel the frosting is like what is on those cupcakes you get at Albertsons that have about an inch of fluff on top. Icing is more of a thin layer of sweetness on top of a cake. Any thoughts?

Out in the Country

To celebrate 4th of July, Casey and I went out to some land that his parents own in the outskirts of Commerce, TX. The actual city is called South Sulfur, TX (picturing it already, aren't you?) Yes, you probably have never heard of it and there is a good reason...there is NOTHING there, not even a stop light! I was a little nervous at first that I was going to go crazy by the end of the day. I kept asking casey how far it was to the nearest civilization (which to me apparently means where there is a Chili's since the question of the hour was "How far do I have to drive to get some skillet queso?") After being out in the country for about an hour though, it kind of starts to grow on you. I felt a country twang consuming my speech and found myself sitting on the front porch sipping some ice tea and playing dominos. It was actually really relaxing. We really didn't do much all day besides eat, sit on the porch or by the pond, play dominos, and dominate in horse shoes. When it got dark, the real fun began. People had brought an arsenol of fireworks and it took about an hour to set the majority of them off. Casey and I left around 11pm and they still had several boxes left to go through. I got to set one off though which was kind of scary and fun at the same time. By the end of the day, I am happy to say that I didn't go crazy and that I kind of like the country...in small doses of course.

Obsessed

"Hi, my name is Jenna, and I am a 'So You Think You Can Dance' addict." Man it feels good to confess that. Now I can embrace my obsession. For those of you who do not watch the show (Wednesday on Fox) you really should start. I've been making Casey watch it with me and don't tell anyone but I think he is secretly starting to like it. My favorite couples this season are Twitch and Kherrington, Katee and Josh, and my top favorite is Chelsea and Mark!!!!

Exhibit A of why Chelsea & Mark are the best:

Was that not the best dance ever??

Gone Fishin'

Saturday was spent in the sun and on the lake. What a great way to spend a Saturday right? Casey's sister and brother-in-law just bought a brand new boat so we got to try it out with them. We started the day off at Lake Lewisville for the boat orientation. It was so choppy thought that Casey's sister and I got kind of wet sitting in the back of the boat and felt like we were going to fly out of our seats at some points. After the orientation, we went to a pool party at our friend Stephanie's house out in Mesquite (we went all over the metroplex this day). We spent the whole pool party playing pool vollyball. Casey said he could tell that I had some skills but we would work on my serving. Dating Casey, I not only get a boyfriend, I get a coach too!

When we left the pool party, we went over to Lake Ray Hubbard to go fishing with his sister(Kelly), brother-in-law (David), and his 2 year old nephew (Drew). Casey bought me a brand new pink fishing pole and I was very excited to put it to use. I learned how to cast and then we also were slabbing and trolling to catch fish. I know what you are thinking, "Jenna must officially be a fisher using all those big fishing words" and yes, it's true. Kelly and I were trolling off the back of the boat and she caught 2 fish right in a row. This was just not fair so they told Kelly and me to switch places so maybe I would catch a fish. Literally, as soon as we switched places, Kelly caught another fish. She caught a total of 5 that day. Casey was not going to get off the lake until I caught a fish though. Finally, at the end of the day, I caught a fish!!!! I have a feeling that I will be doing a lot of fishing this summer. Since I already have the cute pink pole, all I need now is the cute fishing outfit...because the best part of learning a new sport is the cute outfit and new accessories, right mom!?

I caught a fish!!!!

Casey made me kiss the fish (don't worry, I'm just pretending). He made me throw it back too! The whole time I was touching the fish, I was screaming. Gross!

"Off to the races again!"

On Friday, Casey took me to the horse races at Lone Star Park after work. It was really fun to watch the races. Everyone gets really excited and is yelling for their horse. We made several bets throughout the night, however, Lady Luck was just not on our side. One of the guys we were there with won $300...maybe next time that will be us!

Meet the Williams

Saturday was a big day. It started bright and early at 5:30 AM. It was Casey's step-sister's graduation from high school and he had asked me to come. This meant that I was going to meet the fam. He told me that it would probably be his sister and his aunt from his dad's side of the family. Once we got to the graduation party though, it turned out to be a lot more than we expected. Let's just say that his dad is one of nine kids...and all but 2 showed up to the party. I met everyone from aunts, uncles, cousins, to even grandma. By the way I have a new best friend, Emily. She is 7 and is Casey's cousin. We played horse shoes together and bonded during deep discussions of Sponge Bob and Disney Princess's. When she left she gave me a hug good bye which was so cute. Casey's sister called his mom as soon as she left the party and told her that she really liked me. His brother-in-law told Casey that I am too good for him which I thought was really funny. After spending the afternoon at Williams Central, we headed off to the Desperados game with Nic (casey's best friend) and his wife Shawn. We decided to take the DART to the game and ended up at the wrong stop. Casey, with his true adventuresome attitude, decided that we should walk to the arena from where we were. He pointed out where we needed to go, "it's just behind that building underconstruction way down there." I now know to always where comfy shoes when going anywhere with this boy. As you can see from the picture at the game, I was pretty exhuasted after the long day, but even though it was long, it was a really good day!
